  1. Human-accountable

    Technology supports the professionals responsible for the record. It does not replace their judgment.

  2. On-device by default

    Sensitive material stays on the professional's machine unless there is a clear reason it should not.

  3. Vendor-neutral

    Useful workflows should survive a model change, a platform change, and a proprietary format.
